agballa notes - issue 20! - devotion

in case you missed it or are new here, welcome! this email is the third in a series about the process of writing my first ebook! it's about finding creative flow more often. you can read the other installments here:

part 1 and part 2

hey frendz and fam!

it's a scorpio new moon today. are you feeling it, too?

this week, as the sun has begin to set at 5pm, giving us complete darkness by 6pm, I've been feeling the need to sensory cocoon, as in wrap my self in blankets, cover my feet in soft socks, scribble in my notebook, and watch wednesday, the netflix series. very dark, very brooding, very scorpio.

what about you? how have you been navigating this november time? there's been a lot of talk on the internet streets about preparing for 2026! black friday! holidays!

and I'm all, where's my socks? where's my cozy hoodie? winter's coming o0

an ebook process update

writing this ebook has me very much in the messy middle. I've got a lot to say and my brain feels a lot like scrambled eggs lately, so the logic, the order, the linear-ness of the form that is a book doesn't quite compute at the moment.

and also! I sat down to write it anyway. mostly cuz you all are here holding me accountable. mostly, cuz as I am (re)building self-trust, part of that is simply showing up to do the thing you say you're doing to do. much easier said than done cuz I wanted to not show up.

my baby's been running around crying, the laundry needs to be switched over, and I'd rather be in my wednesday-watching instead of wednesday-writing cocoon.

but this week, the installment of the ebook I'm sharing is the one on devotion. this is the part of finding creative flow where you show up for your creative practice. the part where you create structures in your life to be able to hold the things (the activities, the people, the money, the events, the work) you want it to be made of.

so, I tok a taste of my own medicine and held the structure of my devotion to be here, with my writing, with you, with the work I'm pulling through:

  • it's my partner's day with the baby. this is the structure we agreed on, so I had to ignore the crying (not easy, though I don't hear it anymore so seems like everyone's okay lol).
  • I had a co-working session set up with some other solopreneurs friends, and so the body-doubling was already built into the day to write the segment.
  • I'm here, in our creating in kapwa session, typing this to finish the assignment for week!
  • after the kapwa session is over, I'm turning the laptop off (part of my closing ritual as someone who works from home), having dinner with the family, hugging my baby, and curling up with him in our cocoon (he's also learned the word cozy this week and clearly understands it's about dimming the lights and getting comfy).

part three of the ebook

structure that holds our creative practice and the patterns we want to shift in our lives are incredibly sacred. our devotion to our values, to what we are creating is, too. that is what this part is all about. the text is raw, per usual, and like I said, very much in the messy middle. hope you find some gems inside though :)

may you find patterns and rituals that serve your energies.
may this sacred structure support you in channeling your magic.
may you be an honest vessel.

creating in kapwa - the co-creation gathering

our next co-creating/co-working session will be wednesday, december 3rd!
2pm Hawaii / 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern
BIPOC only.
see you there!

in love, gratitude, and kapwa,
teresa

read time: ~7 min happy full moon aquarius, jupiter in leo cazimi, Reader! this past weekend, my family and I were invited to join my partner’s brother’s friends/chosen family on their annual camping trip. we said yes, and it was a beautiful, unexpected three days “off-the-grid.” no reception, no phone, no tech. I believe hollywood grooms us to be afraid of moments like these, and I’m also not naive to the fact that could have been a dangerous situation, but we were in good company. we were...

A brown snail rests on a large, dark green leaf.

hey Reader! this mercury rx has been slapping me right around 😅 hbu? lots has been going on behind-the-scenes, lots of ideas and movement and what we call in our house, action jaction!! all good things, really, and I feel incredibly blessed and grateful that the things I’ve been asking for are being shown in real time. and also, I’ve been rushing through things to check them off the list (iykyk). like, last week, I fired off this newsletter cuz it was on the list WITHOUT double checking,...

hey Reader, blessed new moon in cancer! what’s been coming up for you emotionally lately? how is it showing up in your work, home, and creative practice? feel free to reply if you’d like to share, or use this as a journal prompt. I’ve been thinking about “self-care” vs. “self-centered,” and the deep connection between care, home, and belonging. water, memory, ancestors, emotion—these are the themes of this cycle. so here’s lesson three from my recent fallow period: our first home is...
