read time: ~7 min happy full moon aquarius, jupiter in leo cazimi, Reader! this past weekend, my family and I were invited to join my partnerās brotherās friends/chosen family on their annual camping trip. we said yes, and it was a beautiful, unexpected three days āoff-the-grid.ā no reception, no phone, no tech. I believe hollywood grooms us to be afraid of moments like these, and Iām also not naive to the fact that could have been a dangerous situation, but we were in good company. we were also in flow.cuz, no clocks. no time-keeping other than sunlight, moonlight, our bodies, and each other. waking when the sun, our bodies, the community said it was time. with the light coming through the windows in the tent, the sounds of fire wood being chopped, āgood morningsā and soft morning giggles. we waited for the fire to warm the coffee, cooked over it, sat around it, watched it dance & pop. we ate when again the sun & our bodies signaled it was time to eat. cooled down & played in the river & the lake when the sun got hot. wound down with dinner as the sun set, our bodies tired from the dayās play. talking story & singing until our bodies said it was time to lay down. this is how we were meant to live. attuned to sun, to sky, to our bodies, to each other. responding. and the work was clear:we work to gather the food, put it together, to make sure all mouths are fed & bellies full. we work to keep the space tidy & in working order for all of us living there. we watch the babies & kids together, making sure all are safe while enjoying. we work to tend the fire, to preserve the water, to take care of the land (in this context, making sure all plastics are picked up). it felt so good. so correct. this full moon in aquarius and jupiter in leo cazimi is here to remind us that life can be this simple & full. that we can return to ways that worked millennia before, for our ancestors & those before us, but that we must innovate. to me, aquarius is the sign of innovation. of taking something & flipping it on its head to see it in another way. we live thick in an entirely different context than what our ancestors experienced. I donāt think I need to name what our nemesis is in these times. and they innovated for their times, too, shapeshifted their ways to preserve them. the vision for my work & yours is expandingnow is the time for all that groundwork they laid down for us to bloom into a new, yet very ancient way of being: one that holds what was, what is, and what could be. Iām being shown all three within the lens of my little business. the vision for it is expanding, to meet & hold what is right now: our immediate needs as a collective. as entrepreneurs, artists, writers, healers, caregivers, organizers shaping & building the new world and making room for community & softness/slowness, while simultaneously dismantling the empire. and what could be: all of us living out the dreams we set out for ourselves, our families, our communities. all of us, truly liberated, in this lifetime. passing on a more compassionate, loving world to our descendants and beyond. while honoring what was: working through the patterns the conditioning & trauma have left us, being able to sit through the discomfort & grief of remembering how weāve been hurt, how we have hurt, what was lost. Iām being shown in very practical, grounded ways what holding all of this looks like. it looks like systemizing mutual aid. it looks like both/and, creating jobs for our little online community so that we can all survive end-stage capitalism and pay rent, while also showing you your dreams can be very real. you can write & have your healing practice in the way its meant to be & organize & take care of the kids & elders all in real time without having to worry about food on the table or eviction. it looks like stewarding larger amounts of money to get to larger amounts of the People. Iām so pumped for us. it might get a little messy, a little lop-sided, a little tight in this corner & then expansive in the other. but Iām here for the ride. Iām in the flow of it all. cuz this past weekend showed me how possible it is to live in rhythm with sun & moon & water & land & each other again. in a very real way. and not just for three days. our work is laid out ahead of us. it will take some excavating and some real learning. thank you for being with me here. if you want to get hyped up with me & connect over our big visions,
in big, aquarian/jupiter in leo love, gratitude, & kapwa, teresa TL;DRwe can have a simpler life, of sunlight, water, fire, food, and land and each other, regularly, not just for three days camping by the riverside. but thereās work to be done & we need to innovate it. the vision for my little business is growing & Iām inviting you along for the ride. letās talk about our visions together, here.ā my family and I are still fundraising for our daughterās outgoing special as the Honolulu Intertribal Powwow Princess at the 50th Annual Honolulu Intertribal Powwow on Magic Island, August 29 & 30, 2026. you can donate here or you know, weāll see you there!! šš¾ ā If you ever feel the need to unsubscribe, I respect that. agballa updates various musings (and an occasional prompt) on the intersections of creativity, wellness, ancestors, and maybe a little mama/auntiehood :)
hey Reader! this mercury rx has been slapping me right around š hbu? lots has been going on behind-the-scenes, lots of ideas and movement and what we call in our house, action jaction!! all good things, really, and I feel incredibly blessed and grateful that the things Iāve been asking for are being shown in real time. and also, Iāve been rushing through things to check them off the list (iykyk). like, last week, I fired off this newsletter cuz it was on the list WITHOUT double checking,...
hey Reader, blessed new moon in cancer! whatās been coming up for you emotionally lately? how is it showing up in your work, home, and creative practice? feel free to reply if youād like to share, or use this as a journal prompt. Iāve been thinking about āself-careā vs. āself-centered,ā and the deep connection between care, home, and belonging. water, memory, ancestors, emotionāthese are the themes of this cycle. so hereās lesson three from my recent fallow period: our first home is...
we hold a lot. all of us, even men, but especially those of us with multiple, marginalized identities & responsibilities, both inherited & chosen. during this most recent fallow period, too, Iāve been leaning all the way into the rabbit holes that pique my interest. that make my mind & senses light up. the two Iām down at the moment are astrology and herbalism, and how they go together. weaving the commonalities across indigenous systems & thought & time. and the deeper I get into astrology &...
